A major scale
Tabbed out below is the scale of A major played from the 5th open string (A). The arrangement of notes in all major scales is exactly the same. For example, A major contains the following notes: A B C# D E F# G# A Major Scales always have the following arrangement of notes: tone tone semi-tone tone tone tone semi-tone So, A - B is a tone B - C# is a tone C# - D is a semi-tone and so on... A major scale - ascending
Play slowly through the scale using downstrokes at first.
As your left hand fingering becomes more confident, start to use alternate strokes - downstroke / upstroke.
