July 2007... to reduce our carbon footprint, at a cost of £3000, the whole building was rewired with the main hall having beautiful new lights fitted. The emergency lighting system was also upgraded with additional lights being installed.

The emergency lighting system remains over and above that required by law.

All new lighting fitments, tubes and bulbs have been replaced with low energy equivalents, reducing our energy bills and the energy we use.

July 2009... completion of last phase of programme to reduce our energy impact. The central heating boiler was replaced with an AAA rated fully condensing boiler at a cost of £3000. Various other works were completed at the same time to reduce water use.

September 2009... we introduced recycling bins [in the kitchen] to take all plastic, tins, waste paper and cardboard.

December 2010... to improve our energy rating and make Chapel Place healthier and more environmentally friendly, we installed one huge radiator in the Main Hall. [to run off the new central heating boiler] When funds become available it is our plan to install a further two.

February 2011... with the help of a grant from South Hams District Council, we were able to install another two large radiators in the Main Hall. No longer do we have to rely on old, noisy unhealthy blow heaters to warm the Main Hall!

Spring 2016... with further financial help from South Hams District Council, we were able to install another two radiators in the Main Hall... All radiators have thermostatic valves.
